As we prepare ourselves to celebrate the apparition of the Blessed Virgin at Lourdes,namely the 27th World Day of the Sick, We invite you the sick, the carers and afflicted families to place your petition at the foot of our Lady and to join Pope Francis in prayer…
On this World Day of the Sick, at the Grotto of Massabielle, Lourdes, thousands of young volunteers gather from around the world to accompany and look after the sick, old and disabled people who have come with their hopes, their experiences of faith, to make an ultimate pilgrimage to the place where the Blessed Virgin Mary chose to appear to St Bernadette.
“After her visit to the Grotto, thanks to her prayers, St Bernadette turned her frailty into support for others. Mary gave Bernadette the vocation of serving the sick and called her to become a Sister of Charity, a mission that she carried out in so exemplary a way as to become a model for every healthcare worker.
In his message for the 27th World Day of the Sick, Pope Francis urges believers to promote a culture of generosity, noting that the joy of generous giving is a barometer of the health of a Christian.Pope Francis says that those who care for the sick and give of themselves with generosity and straightforward love – like St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta – are amongst the Church’s most credible evangelizers. “Saint Mother Teresa helps us understand that our only criterion of action must be selfless love for every human being, without distinction of language, culture, ethnicity or religion”.
In his message for the World Day of the Sick, celebrated on 11 February, the Pope focused on Jesus’s words to the Apostles: “You received without payment; give without payment” (Mt 10:8)

Today you ask us to go where God is threatened in man and man is threatened as an image of God.
You who receive our prayer, give us to make known to the world your son, he who makes us participate in his Body is the Church. You have communicated to us, through the voice of St. Bernadette, to pray for the “conversion of sinners”.
O Mary, my Mother! You know my weakness, my cowardice.
