Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem
We adore You,O Christ and we praise You (Genuflexion) \
R: Because by your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke:(23:26-31)
As they led him away, a great number of people followed him them there were women who were beating their breasts and wailing for him. But Jesus turned to them and said,”Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me but weep for yourselves and for your children. For the days are surely coming when they will say, “Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed. Then they will begin to say to mountains. ‘Fall on us; and to the hills, ‘Cover us’. For if they do this when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?”
Reflection
Very often, many parents deserve the same rebuke Jesus did to the women of Jerusalem because they don ‘t give the right education to their children. Due to lack of responsibility and bad example, parents scandalise their children and do them big moral harm and at times physical and mental damage. Imagine how many youngsters have gone astray and lost their faith because they didn’t get the right formation from their parents.
Silence…..Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be
Let us pray
0 Jesus, make us understand what grave responsibility we have specially in the bringing up of our families. Keep all parents away from sin, give them the strength and courage to seek, first, good religious education for their children and show them how to accept You as their leader and teacher a long their whole life. Amen.
